Dietrich is fast approaching his 50th anniversary with Volkswagen. Yes, 50 years across 5 countries 3 continents. His pride in this amazing milestone and achievement is shared by all of us here.
Dietrich got his start with VW in 1960 at age 16 as an apprentice at a VW dealership in Hamburg/Germany and it's been excitement ever since. He broadened his experience as a technician and later as a fixed operations manager with assignments in Britain, Switzerland, and South Africa. There is no doubt as to his love and passion for the Volkswgen brand.
Dietrich has been leading this company as partner and general manager since 1994. At this stage, Dietrich's office hours are a bit more flexible. He is slowing down a little to take in the finer things in life, such as frequent motorcycle trips in foreign places, well deserved breaks on the beach, and spending time to focus on family, friends, and whatever project attracts his attention. But don't think for a second our captain doesn't run a tight ship. You don't make it to Wolfsburg Crest Club status on good looks alone. It is a team effort. We just happen to be a team fortunate enough to have one of the best captains out there.

Our fearful leader's first car was a 1984 Jetta Turbo diesel. He was able to drive to Toronto and back on about $3 of diesel and has been hooked ever since. Many VW laced kms and snowboard trips later, David decided it was about time to stop talking his friends into becoming VW drivers, and join the brand he was passionate about. David joined the VW Waterloo team in 2000 and hasn't looked back. After 4 years, he took his passion for VW on the road as a sales trainer for VW of America. Having visited numerous VW factories worldwide and being the face of Volkswagen for several new product launches, it's safe to say he knows the product inside and out. After 3 years of living out of a suitcase, it was time to re-introduce himself to his family. In search of a new challenge, he came back 'home' to VW Waterloo in his current role as the General Sales Manager. David and his team have become the leaders in VW sales in the Waterloo Region. Be sure to drop by and visit him in his corner office, the door is always open.

"Babyface" Jamie bought his turbo Jetta from Rodney and was smitten with the sales experience at VW Waterloo. When it came time for a co-op placement from the Georgian College Automotive program, Jamie knew exactly where he wanted to experience the world of car sales. After graduating, Jamie came back to VW Waterloo to champion the financial services and business office. With his help, we can ensure all our clients have a smooth experience in purchasing their Volkswagen, and that they are well protected with only products that we believe in. Jamie has aspirations of owning a dealership and with his ambition, we're certain that his dream will be achieved. Until that time, he longingly stares at the corner office and covets an office door?or at least two walls.

Rodney seems to know just about everyone who walks in the door at VW Waterloo. He likely won't remember their name but he'll remember their face. After 15 years he has seen his clientele grow and move through their lives in parallel to VW moving through its model generations. Such an overarching perspective makes for plenty to talk about, be it a social chat about the topics of the day or a discussion about purchasing a VW if the old one needs replacing. Both of which are easy due to Rodney's laidback demeanor and varied interests.

Rodney is also proud to have spent time in all departments of a VW dealership over the years. Stints in the body shop, parts department, and service department all contribute to a good perspective on the day to day functioning of a dealership and the needs of his customers. So if you're in at the dealership and want to stop in for a chat with Rodney, you'll almost always learn something new and if you happen to be looking for your first, second, or tenth VW there's always a good deal to be struck.

His auto lineage to date includes an '87 Golf Diesel, '94 Golf CL (AC is for wimps), '02 Golf TDI (OEM with a bunch of goodies), '07 Rabbit, and his latest 2010 Golf!  As a former minister and published author, Rob destroys any stereotype that might come to mind about car salesmen. Whether it's a discussion about politics, the Montreal Canadians, Bono's latest humanitarian effort, or the best vehicle to suit your needs, you can rest assured the answers you receive are honest and straightforward. Rob's passion now goes beyond VW and U2, as he has just welcomed a baby girl into his family. Needless to say, he appreciates a good cup of coffee at any time of the day!
